More than 30 homes and 84 businesses
in Footscray are earmarked for compulsory acquisition to make way for the Regional Rail Link (Update: Feb 2012, Houses now demolished). Residents first learned the news through the media, waiting in some cases for more than 36 hours for official notification. Affected residents and traders are unimpressed with the complete lack of prior consultation and the generally disorganised and disrespectful way in which the Department of Transport and the Government have managed the process.

The people affected are not asking for the regional rail lines to be put into someone else's backyard, they are simply asking for a fair-go.

Upcoming

Date and location of our next regular meeting to be advised via mailing list. Our previous meeting venue, the Senior Citizens Centre on Buckley Street is one of the buildings shortly to be demolished for the RRL.
